Teaching English through Song
Parallelism in English promotes style and fluency in song, speech and essay writing.
Example 1
Lacking parallelism:
She likes cooking, jogging, and to read.
Parallel:
She likes cooking, jogging, and reading.
Example 2
Lacking parallelism:
He ran across the yard, jumped over the fence, and down the alley he sprinted.
Parallel:
He ran across the yard, jumped over the fence, and sprinted down the alley.
Famous quotes
If you do not conquer self, you will be conquered by self.
You can't do anything about the length of your life, but you can do something about its width and depth.
Don't let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.
A life lived in fear is half lived.

Two possible themes in this song
What do really want?
Brainstorm what is our desire/ dream/hope?
In us we have many desires some of them are good for us and others are not. God is the joy of my desire. God is the joy that is lasting and sustaining us to such a degree that it consumes us. God is in charge and beautiful in every way.. God is not just joy but peace who brings comfort and companionship. Our response to God is to respect and speak of God's worthiness. Giving a spiritual response and in speaking what is true, God is worshiped. God is our dearest friend.
What do people who are special in your life mean to you?
Using picture language(metaphors) we can express our appreciation for each other better.
The picture language used here is the Rose of Sharon a flower that is rare and sweet to show that God is unusual and kind. Love songs often compare the people they love to rare objects like gold, stars or heaven. Brainstorm what would be a good object to describe the person you love or who loves you.
